How To Set Canonical Links for Your Website or Funnel

Modified on Fri, 4 Jul at 8:59 PM

A canonical link tells search engines which URL represents the "master" or primary version of a page. This is especially useful when similar or identical content appears under multiple URLs, as it ensures search engines index and rank the correct version of your content. For instance, if you have two URLs displaying the same content, you would choose one as the canonical URL to guide search engines on which page to prioritize.

Adding the Canonical Link to Your SEO Meta Data

Inside the Funnel or Website builder, look for the SEO Meta Data option in the navigation menu at the top.

Scroll until you find the "Canonical Links" option within “Links & Tags”. Click on the "+Add" button and input the URL of the page you wish to set as the canonical version. This should be the primary version of the content you want search engines to focus on.

After entering the canonical link, make sure to save your SEO metadata settings.

To ensure the canonical link is correctly implemented, start by previewing the page where you've added the canonical link.

Right-click on the page background and select "View Page Source" from the context menu to open the HTML source code of your page.

Troubleshooting Tips and FAQs

Q: My canonical link isn't showing. What should I do?

Ensure you've saved both the SEO metadata settings and the page itself. If the issue persists, double-check the   URL you've entered for any typos.

Q: Can I set multiple canonical links for a page?

It's best practice to have a single canonical link per page to avoid confusing search engines.
